Looking Forward:
Dr. Tod Bolsinger and Rev. Dr. Leah Schade to serve as Exemplars
Director, Dr. Trisha Wheelock
Tod Bolsinger will serve as our September exemplar. Dr. Bolsinger joined Fuller Seminary in 2014 and now works as Vice President and Chief of Leadership Formation. Ordained in the Presbyterian Church, he holds a PhD in Theology and Master of Divinity from Fuller and served as a pastor for over twenty years. Bolsinger has authored three books, It Takes a Church to Raise a Christian: How the Community of God Transforms Lives (Brazos, 2004), Show Time: Living Down Hypocrisy by Living Out the Faith (Baker, 2005), and Canoeing the Mountains: Christian Leadership in Uncharted Territory (IVP Books, 2015). Our exemplar session will focus on his most recent book, Canoeing the Mountains.
Leah Schade will serve as our October exemplar. Rev. Dr. Leah D. Schade is the Assistant Professor of Preaching and Worship at Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky. An ordained minister in the ELCA for twenty years (in rural, urban, and suburban churches), Schade earned both her MDiv and PhD degrees from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia (now United Lutheran Seminary). Her books include: Preaching in the Purple Zone: Ministry in the Red-Blue Divide (Rowman & Littlefield, 2019), Creation-Crisis Preaching: Ecology, Theology, and the Pulpit (Chalice Press, 2015), and co-editor with Margaret Bullitt-Jonas of Rooted and Rising: Voices of Courage in a Time of Climate Crisis (Rowman & Littlefield, 2019). Dr. Schade is a $30,000 grant recipient from the Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion, and received the Kentucky Council of Churches award in 2019. She is also the EcoPreacher blogger for Patheos.
